Essay

For the next several days the students will be working on their final essay for April Morning.

April Morning Essay

Due to an illness, I was out of school Monday and Tuesday. We finished our review of April Morning today, and we will begin the essay tomorrow.

In-class essay

We still have not finished our review activity for April Morning. We will finish the review on Monday and write the essay on Tuesday of next week.

Revolutionary War Re-enactment

Essay

We are going to spend 1 more day reviewing. The essay will be given on Monday 10/22.

Review

We are currently working on a review for April Morning. The students are going through each chapter and providing examples of the main character showing maturity/immaturity. They must also provide specific textual support. They will be able to use this sheet on their essay assignment, which will be given on Friday 10/19.

Sick Day HW

Due to the fact that I am out sick today, all students are to have the chapter assignments "The Afternoon2" & "The Evening2" completed for tomorrow (10/16).

Weekend HW

The students are to read chapter 7 of April Morning, "The Afternoon." They must also complete the following assignment:

We are still working on paper revisions. The final draft of the paper will be due Thursday 10/11. The students can revise as many times as they like up until the due date.

To parents,

An excellent way of helping your child with his/her writing is to read their work aloud with them. Many mechanical errors can be corrected this way.

The students have no homework over the weekend. We are still working on essay revisions in class. Each student will turn in at least 2 drafts of their essay before it is graded. Students awaiting my assisstance have an assignment dealing with April Morning.

Progress Reports

To parents,

The comment I put on all of the students' progress reports is "currently working on essay revisions." I did this to let you know that we are currently working on a large assignment worth 50pts. The students will complete several rewrites before the final grade is achieved. I am working with them individually on their papers. You can contact me next week some time if you want to know the specific grade for the assignment, how it affected the overall grade, and what your student's strengths and weaknesses are.

The students are currently working on their chapter 6 essays. They will be given time in class tomorrow to complete them.
